La Vitrine II

Sara. The place has only 16 covers and a spare but warm Italian design, and lunch was amazing. Three words: Foie gras profiteroles. They were nuggets of foie gras wrapped in pastry and set in a pool of delicate broth. Also, the whipped cream on the baba au rhum was flecked with vanilla. Delicious.

Drew.  I couldn’t have asked for a better dining experience.  I loved the decor — these are some of my favorite lighting fixtures.  My ‘dines melted in my mouth, and the boeuf was tender and fresh.  Skinnyfat (my alter ego who is not paleo) liked the dessert, especially the smokey taste in a creme brulee which I wasn’t expecting.

Sara: The creme brulee with smoked tea was totally surprising—not the tea flavor so much, but the smokiness, which is very unusual in a dessert.
