Chartres

Drew.  On the way to the Loire, I mentioned that I had never seen Chartres (I want to keep spelling it “Chartrerers” like “Brett Favrererr”).  We took a detour, and I whipped out my Nikon D70 for some pics.  I love photographing cathedrals.  Or maybe I just love photographing Chartres.  There’s so much to see there — it’s so impressive.  I think you could fit Notre Dame cathedral inside of Chartres and still have some space left over for some statues and stuff.  In fact, at one point I was looking up at the impressive sculptures around the choir area (which took over 200 years to sculpt — imagine!) and then I noticed an entire, yet unseen, higher level of the church above those sculptures.  I let out an audible “Jesus Christ” at the size of the thing and then realized I was actually staring at a massive stained glass window featuring Jesus Christ.
