Chateaux
Drew. Taking a cue from Ina Caro, we decided to visit chateaux in the Loire Valley in chronological order. I highly recommend it. With her book in hand, we were able to see how the changes in military technology and politics allowed for ultimate changes in the way people lived and designed their spaces.
Sara: We hit three chateaux in the Loire, ending at my favorite, Chenonceau, the place that Henry II gave to his mistress, Diane de Poitiers, further pissing off his wife, Catherine de Medici. It is breathtaking—the gardens, the bridge, even the kitchens are amazing.
